Our Music - It's More Than You Think
The Chorus and its associated Quartets have been singing and performing in the greater Sarasota area for more than 70 years.
We're part of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) that comprises hundreds of choruses across the United States, Canada and a score of other countries. BHS is devoted to the concept of Everyone In Harmony, which seeks to encourage membership and participation to all singers of good character, irrespective of race, religion or gender.
The Barbershop Harmony Society, in turn, is formally affiliated with the organizations for female barbershop singers - Sweet Adelines International and Harmony, Inc.
The Chorus is a 'Chapter' of the Barbershop Harmony Society and the 'Chapter' engages in additional activities:

The Chapter's Scholarship Fund grants multiple Scholarships each year, usually totaling $5,000 to $8,000. These are awarded to high school seniors who are pursuing music-related college studies.

The Chapter sponsors middle school and high school students who attend a "Harmony Explosion' weekend - during summer vacation - where the attendees learn four part harmony concepts, attend workshops and finally perform in a real show.
Room and Board is free to the students and their chaperons.

While we rehearse each week to create exceptional performances, the friendships we build are just as important as the music. Our camaraderie makes us a stronger chorus and creates connections that extend well beyond the stage.
We regularly get together for lunches, social outings, and special events, and spouses and partners are always welcome. It's more than a chorus—it's a community of friends who share a passion for music, laughter, and supporting one another.
