Thank you to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, not only for presenting this exciting day, but for selecting us as one of the winners of the Best Giving Day Challenge Story of 2020. Here is our story:

Giving Challenge to the Rescue!

Wow! 2020 - what a difficult, trying year it was.

For the Chorus of the Keys, it was extremely so! In March we had to stop meeting - no rehearsals, cancel performances - and have no idea when we'd be getting back together!

Big question - do we immediately and drastically slash expenses in an attempt to survive?

Or is there another choice? For the first time ever, we had been approved to participate in the Community Foundation of Sarasota Giving Challenge, scheduled for late April of 2020. But we were novices with no way of knowing how the community would respond to our needs. However, it did give us some wait and see time, and we could hold off on the slashing.

Well, the community responded enthusiastically and generously!  They enabled us to meet, virtually, staying connected, learning new songs, polishing repertoire---and continue financially. Now we've performed our Annual Show - "Together Again" in February, 2022, and are looking forward to other performances.

As we approach the 2022 Giving Challenge, April 26-27, noon to noon, we are focused on this year and the future - happier days, hopefully. Our needs continue, such as purchasing new music, updating attire, adding publicity, finding more singers, purchasing risers, and administering scholarships for talented students.

Please follow the Chorus of the Keys 2022 Giving Challenge news in the coming days. Your donations will keep Sarasota singing - bringing people together in beautiful harmony, brighter days, and more fulfilling lives. Be the one! Happy days are here again!
